Colin Meads and Jonah Lomu pencil sketches

Again, not much time for rugby caricatures this week. I've had a real rush on commisions in the run in to chrimbo. So a dip into the archives for some old school pencil sketches. All All Blacks, spot the stray Aussie!

Sonny Bill Williams has eyeballs as big as your head son!!!

At 2 metres tall I thought my recent sketch of Dan Carter was big. Well now Sonny Bill Williams has topped that and is twice the size, I had to take the canvas size to 400cm by 300cm which I'm assuming is quite big for a digital sketch.

As for the title of this blog, my 4 year old came and asked me who I was drawing so I told him and showed him my sketch. Thing is, if he ever sees SBWin real life he's going to be completely unimpressed to find his eyeballs aren't quite the same size as his head!

This is, more or less, the size of my son's head!

Dan Carter again!

Had a wee bit of artists block this week with the composition of a commission. So whilst I've been trying to work that out I've not had much time to stay on target. So instead of new work here's some older stuff.

Dan Carter

This time next year the Rugby World Cup of 2011 will be done and dusted, consigned to the history books. And what will I be left with? Fame? Local perhaps. Fortune? That would be Outrageous! Even if I'm still in my 'same old, same old' office job at least I'll have a two and a half metre tall Dan Carter that's what!!!

Yup, went and drew me a Big ol' Dan Carter 1.68 metres wide and 2.38 metres tall. Whether New Zealand win the Webb Ellis or not, NZ female rugby fans and those the world over (and probably some male ones too) would love a giant Dan! Here he is in minature for now:
And rosey cheeked!

I also completed colouring in the 90's All Black front row, Craig Dowd being the last to get crayola-ed.

More again in two weeks. I'll be sketching at Frank Kitts market, Wellington this Saturday for those in the area. Take a look at my other blog too if you fancy:
